The Hispano Suiza company was founded on May 1, 1911 by Count Ferdinand de Lesseps and his brother Count Jean de Lesseps. The company name was changed to Hispano-Suiza in 1919. The first cars produced by Hispano-Suiza were called the SS and were based on the chassis of the Renault 8. In 1924, the Hispano-Suiza Type H was introduced and it was the first car to use aluminum in its construction. In 1934, the Hispano-Suiza Type HS was introduced and it featured a V12 engine.
